I'm really happy with my entry for DQ Week 2's challenge. We were given a palette of 3 colors and we had to come up with 2 more, and then we had three words that we could use to come up with a theme. One of the words with this palette was "hope," and eventually I came up with a Chinese proverb regarding hope. And voila! Well, y'all, I feel dumb. All this time I've been doing extractions the hard way, using the polygonal lasso tool in Photoshop, just because I was scared of the pen tool. Then I got this book and it has a great section on mastering selections. Now extractions take half the time they used to! I heart the pen tool.

Farewell to Designs in Digital and New Products at DD/TDB

Sadly I must report that Designs in Digital will be closing its doors after February 28th. I've been a part of the DID family since mid-2010 and am sorry to see it close. I hope all of the designers and CT find happy homes elsewhere on the net!

I will continue to sell at Divine Digital and The Designer's Toolbox. I'm not sure yet if I'll be applying to another store. We'll see how the sales do at my current ones!

I apologize for not having a freebie last week. Everyone in my family had the flu and I myself threw my back out ~ not a fun time, let me tell ya!

My first bit o' news is that I've started a new digital scrapbooking forum called Scrap Design CC. The "CC" stands for Constructive Criticism. I wanted to have a place where designers could post their ideas, previews, thoughts, and feedback for each other without worrying about folks stealing their ideas. I also plan to have tutorials and a CT section where designers can lease their own password-protected CT forum with no ads, ever.

Now on to the weekly freebie - I made several dot pattern overlays for making papers. Originally I wanted to give these as psd files so that you could recolor them as you like, however I wasn't able to compress the psd's sufficiently so that the file sizes weren't ginormous. Freebie - Autumn Desktop

I decided to try out Autodesk's Sketchbook free 15 day trial to see if I wanted to buy the software. So I wound up airbrushing an autumn leaf. I was thinking about what I could do with it, and decided to whip up a desktop, since I haven't posted a freebie lately. (Sorry about that, by the way - lost my mojo for a while).
